Thanks to Brock Tice from virtuallyshocking.com we have our first article here at androidx86.org. It summarizes the basic steps how to compile android for x86 based systems. Let me add this: make sure that you use the right version of gcc. The version 4.3 on Ubuntu 8.10 caused only trouble, add CC=gcc-4.2 CXX=g++-4.2 on the make line, to avoid those problems.

This article on pcworld says that Intel adapts Android for Atom processors. While it is not really news to us that it works, it is interesting that Intel itself shows interest in Android for x86. |

More and more mobile android powered devices enter the market, but the number of netbooks and bigger devices running the android operating system out of the box is still very small. Google itself seems to put more energy in the development of Chrome OS than on porting the droid to the x86 platform. But there is hope! The guys over at android-x86.org are working hard on exactly that task.
